Malcolm Roper

I am retired Civil Servant who worked in the Department of Employment, Department of Trade and industry and HM Customs and Excise.
My family originally moved to Baslow in the mid 1970s, and after a period in higher education and working in London, I returned to the village in 1998. I have lived here ever since.
I’m interested in village affairs and I am also a trustee of Baslow Village Hall. I take an interest in affordable local housing and I am an active board member at the Peak District Rural Housing Association.
My wider interests include the arts (I was active in organising and putting on the Sheffield Alight Festival for the Cultural Olympiad in 2012) and walking – something I can indulge in at some length around the village.
