Help improve St Anne’s Churchyard for nature, with native hedgerow and wildflowers!
St Anne’s and Baslow Environment Group have developed a project to attract more insect and birdlife to the churchyard, by increasing the diversity of the habitat, through the planting pf patches of native hedgerow and wildflowers.
We need your help with growing on the small wildflower plug plants until they are large and strong enough to thrive in the churchyard and also to plant the saplings and flowers into the churchyard. Our first hedgerow planting day will be on the morning of Saturday 22 March 2025 from 10am in the churchyard.
We also hope to have the wildflower plants for growing on in pots from the end of March. This is ideal for anyone with spare space in greenhouses or cold frames to protect them from late frosts, but also individual plants can be grown on in propagators made from old 2-litre drinks bottles, so a great activity for children in the village.
