Baslow Bolt: registrations now open

Home » Charity » Baslow Bolt: registrations now open

Registrations are now open for the second Baslow Bolt, the new cross country race that in 2019 revived the old Baslow Fell Race.

To register and for more information visit the official race website: As before, all proceeds are in aid of the local village school: St Anne’s Baslow PTA.

The route will again be well marked and marshalled, making it suitable for all levels of experience.Homemade cakes, served with teas and coffees will be available to purchase at the finish! This is a 12km (7.5 miles) Category BM (medium distance, medium altitude gain), FRA-mandated mixed terrain fell race through woodland and pasture on paths and trails with minimum road running.

In order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions, the event will look a little different from last year, but the organisers hope it will be just as enjoyable.

So, how will it work?

The event will run as a time trial, with runners setting off at intervals in socially-distanced groups of six (or some other group size, if government advice changes). The race will follow the same route as last year, registering and starting in the churchyard and finishing at Baslow St Anne’s school.

Runners will be given a time to arrive in the church grounds then start almost straight away. Timing chips will provided on the day, with results posted on-line shortly after the event.

Is the race Covid compliant?
Sports England & UK Athletics, in conjunction with the National Fell Runners Association (FRA), are still mandating safe running events. The FRA has recently granted us a new licence (and associated insurance) and we they will be following all Covid-19 guidelines.

The race has the full support of Baslow St Anne’s primary school, St Anne’s Church, the Parish Council and Peak District National Park Authority.

What happens now?
Visit their website you can register for the event, but don’t delay, because this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, they have had to reduce numbers from around 280 last year to around 180 this year.

To partially compensate, we will be putting the price up slightly to £10 (all proceeds go to the Baslow School PTA) per entry.
