Leave the barbecue at home

Home » Crime » Leave the barbecue at home

A new nationwide initiative is urging people to leave their barbecues at home, when they venture into the countryside, to help prevent unnecessary fire damage.

According to the campaign’s website, which has been set up and is maintained by Hope Valley-based Vicky and Tony Macartney: “Beauty spots and conservation areas are being put at risk by increasing numbers of irresponsible wild campers leaving behind piles of rubbish and lighting fires – with fears growing that the problem could spread as conventional campsites fill up over the summer.”

Posters encouraging people to leave the barbecues at home have been circulated across the Peak Park, but if you haven’t received one you can download it HERE.
