Take Five To Stop Fraud is the national campaign from Financial Fraud Action UK and the UK government, backed by the banking industry, to help combat fraud.
Their advice is really simple but it can stop you becoming a victim of fraud:
- A genuine bank or organisaiton will never contact you out-of-the-blue to ask for your PIN, isernames or passwords or to ask you to move money to other accounts.
- Only give your personal or financial details in order to use a service that you have given your consent to, which you trust and understand that the provider of the service may contact you.
- Don’t be tricked into giving a fraudster access to your personal or financial details, and never click on any links from unexpected or suspicious emails or text messages.
- Always question uninvited approaches in case it is a scam. Contact the company directly to check on the authenticity of the approach.
