The annual Parish Meeting for Baslow and Bubnell has been booked in Baslow Village Hall for Tuesday 18 June 2024 at 7.30pm. There will be defibrillator training being offered first (between 6pm and 7pm).  If you would like to attend this training session, please contact the Parish Clerk.

What is a Parish Meeting?

Every English Parish must have a Parish Meeting (Local Government Act 1972, s13(1)).
This meeting consists of the local government electors registered for the area for which it is held i.e. all those who have a right to vote. The meeting must be held each year between 1st March and 1st June (incl.) and must be after 6pm in the evening! So that’s the law.

What is a Parish Meeting Like?
It is an opportunity for the Parish Council and organisations and charities within the village to report on their activities during the year and to work together to improve the community in which they live and work. It has also been an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide feedback to all those groups.

If you would like to have an item on the agenda please contact the Parish Clerk, Sarah Porter at clerkbaslowbubnell@googlmail.co.uk or 07866 695132.

Bench and Sign Cleaning

The Keep Baslow Beautiful Group is planning a working party on 29th June to clean the benches and signs on the green at Nether End. If anyone is able to help, please contact the Parish Clerk on 07866 695132 or clerkbaslowbubnell@googlemail.com

Damage at the Woodland Park

The Parish Council is very proud of the Woodland Park, bike track and conservation area. The play area was opened in April 2019 with the start of the conservation area. Over the following years, the conservation area has developed with more formal paths laid out and the bike track opened. The play area and bike track are annually checked by ROSPA; the whole area is checked weekly.
The conservation area is a wild area which the school use for Forest Schools and is accessible to all but is not part of the play area.
Sadly, the Parish Council has had to replace the wicker fencing due to sections being removed. Also the shrubs in the bike track have been climbed through and the stock fencing with the field next door vandalised.
Please report any issues to the Parish Clerk and help keep the park as wonderful as it should be.
A new bench has also been installed!
