Young People’s Voice
The Parish Council has had a request to listen to the views of the young people of the village. The Parish Council is delighted that young people want to get involved and so will be holding a special meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 21st February 2017 in the Methodist Chapel. Please do come along.
Baslow Woodland Park
The Parish Council are delighted to report that the Planning Application for the Woodland Park was resubmitted at the beginning of January. This application reflects the additional work that the Parish Council has undertaken to try and ensure that the community scheme is finally approved.
An extensive tree survey was undertaken by independent tree surgeons and sadly the Parish Council was left with no choice but to remove one of the woodland’s main attractions — the bike track. This was because the report highlighted the potential impact that cycling would have had on a handful of well established trees. The surveyor prepared a new site plan showing the play equipment, which will be positioned to ensure the least impact on the trees.
The Parish Council has been working closely with the Baslow Sports Field Trustees to ensure that both organisations can work together for the benefit of the local community. The Council is delighted that access to the new woodland park will run adjacent to the multi-use games area and over land the sports field.
It is anticipated that most users of the woodland park will arrive on foot or by bike, but the Sports Field Trust has agreed to allow use of their car park.
