Clare gets her skates on

Baslow resident Clare Whalley will leading her ice skating team to qualify and be selected to represent Great Britain in the sport she loves at the World Synchronised Skating Championships 2025, to be held in Helsinki on the 4th and 5th April 2025.

Clare works as assistant manager at The Prince of Wales, Baslow, in order to fund her passion for her sport, having skated since she was 9-years-old. This will be the third time she has represented Great Britian at the highest level.

Fundraising to support the trip is essential as sadly there is no funding for ice skaters. Money can be donated via her team’s GoFundMe page (https://gofund.me/ecbac9ab) or gifts can be donated.

If anyone would like to contribute to the team, they are looking for 16 sets of matching eyelashes, dress bags, GB hats and scarfs, ear muffs, lipsticks, fake tan sets, which all have to be purchased to ensure all 16 skaters look the same throughout the competition – all donations can be dropped off with Clare.
