Severn Trent Water was recently in touch to let residents know about the work they’re going to be doing between Calver and Grindleford – as part of a £22m project to protect the local water supply for years to come.
At the time they were going to close a section of the main road for six weeks, but they have found a way to keep the road open to light traffic.
So what are they doing?
• Between now and the start of the school summer holidays, Severn Trent will continue to work northwards along the main road between Calver and Grindleford under traffic lights. No weight restrictions are in place.
• From 24 July to 3 September 2024 they will close a section of Sir William Hill Road from its junction with Main Road to its junction with Commercial Road (shown in the map overleaf in red).
A diversion route will be in place. Access to Commercial Road from the north will be maintained while the team is working over the entrance.
• From 24 July to 3 September 2024 there will be traffic lights on the section of Main Road from its junction with Sir William Hill Road to the junction with Mount Pleasant Road (shown in the map overleaf in blue).
Vehicles heavier than 7.5 tonnes will not be permitted access and will need to use the diversion route.
• Their team will be reaching Grindleford centre in the next few weeks, which may affect parking on the Main Road.
