As part of Derbyshire Constabulary’s road safety priority, they often link with their colleagues in CREST (Causality Reduction Enforcement Support Team) and make them aware of certain roads that have been highlighted by local residents.
With in this mind, officers from CREST recently conducted speed enforcement: they found that 14 motorists were speeding on the A625 Froggatt stretch and eight motorists were caught speeding on Calver Road in Baslow.
When residents report roads to the Safer Neighbourhood Team, the police and Community Speed Watch coordinators (who are based at police headquarters within CREST), work together with community members to set up Community Speed Watch Schemes, where members of the community can be trained to conduct speed checks in their area.
The work of the Community Speedwatch Volunteers provides useful data, which can be used by trained officers to carry out speed enforcement at sites identified by Community Speedwatch volunteers or the use of speed strips, which supply data on the number and speed of vehicles using the road.

If you wish to highlight an issue in your community, this can be done by completing our Community Voice Survey and completed surveys can help create a priority in your community, which is looked at over a three-month period.
