Derbyshire County Council (DCC) has installed a priority GIVE/TAKE system on the Barbrook Old Bridge in Baslow following the discovery of a hole in the masonry arch.
Damage to the structure of any bridge is taken very seriously, which is why DCC has quickly taken steps to ensure vehicles that don’t park directly on the affected area.
This, of course will have ramifications for the residents, but DCC appreciates everyone’s cooperation and understanding.
It is anticipated remedial works will take place at some point in 2026, but this is a challenging problem to fix and will require specialist engineering techniques, but DCC will endeavour to keep everyone updated.
DCC has recommended to DDDC that refuse collection vehicles are banned from using the bridge until the remedial works are completed. Any other large vehicles are also advised not to use the bridge.
