Parish Council Update

Parish Council Update | February 2026

Baslow Woodland Park

The new climbing wall has been installed in the Woodland Park. This is to give some different play experiences and compliments what is already down there.

The wall cost £7,650 and was fully funded by a National Lottery Grant.

There is an array of equipment now available including a trim trail for adults and a natural area for bird watching. All are welcome to use this fantastic facility.

The Parish Council is still looking into repairing the net climbing equipment which was damaged by a falling branch. There are also plans afoot for utilising the old bike track area. More to follow later in 2026.

Snow Warden Scheme

As reported last month, the Parish Council has signed up again for the snow warden scheme. Grit is available for use on village paths.

If you would be interested in receiving some grit to keep your part of the village clear, please contact the Parish Clerk at clerk@baslowandbubnellparishcouncil.gov.uk or on 01246 950850.

The advice on spreading grit is grit should only be spread very thinly: aim for 10-30 grams per square metre (a shovel full can cover 20-30m2).

There was a flurry of requests in early January when it started snowing and it is hard for the Parish Council to then get the grit out to everyone so please sign up in good time for the bad weather!

Potholes, Drains & Signage

There seem to be an increasing number of potholes appearing and signage falling over due to the bad weather. These and any Derbyshire County Council issue can be reported at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/reportit

Alternatively, you can ask the Clerk to report it for you by emailing clerk@baslowandbubnellparishcouncil.gov.uk or phoning 01246 950850
