Having amassed over 700 senior appearances across a top-flight career spanning four decades, John remains one of the few goalkeepers to win English First Division titles with two separate clubs, featuring in Arsenal’s famous last-gasp 1988–89 title win at Anfield and Leeds United’s championship run in 1991–92.
