Chatsworth Christmas Markets 2025

For this year’s Chatsworth Christmas Markets (8/11 to 14/12), there various access and parking restrictions in place and there are actions that can be taken if there are any issues.

Every day, there are cones on the bend by the Village Shop and signage at the bottom of Eaton Hill, School Lane and Bubnell Lane (this is the same as the 2024 restrictions, which only occurred at weekends).

There are also cones on the A623 from the 30mph sign to the drive past Fischer’s Baslow Hall on their side of the road.

There are other markets locally all of which are having an impact on traffic and parking in the village.  This weekend is Bakewell’s Christmas Market and yesterday Haddon Hall’s Christmas Market began (running every Wednesday to Sunday from 12th November to 15th December).

Enforcement of existing on-street parking restrictions (such as yellow lines and limited waiting bays) is the responsibility of Derbyshire County Council. They have enforcement officers in the village every weekend of the Chatsworth Christmas Market. These officers also patrol the car parks for Derbyshire Dales District Council.

Obstructions, or dangerous parking, can be reported to the Police on 101 or via their website, Facebook page or X. Officers do attend these reports but the logs are also shared with the County Council to feed into traffic restrictions for events in future years.

Like Chatsworth, other local businesses with their own car parks manage access to their properties so that only their patrons use their car parks, all the authorities (following feedback from residents) request that this is managed so that the impact on the highways is minimised and that cars are taken off the highway before checking to allow  free movement on the roads.

These restrictions have been agreed with the Highway Authority and the Police so it will not be able to change anything this year. However, if you would like to make a suggestion or request for a change in these restrictions for future years, please can you email these to the Parish Council to coordinate and raise at the post event meeting with Highways and the Police.

If you wish to make a complaint, you can also email these to the Parish Council. Logging any complaints on the village WhatsApp is not a way for action to be taken.
