Update from Cllr Hobson

Here is the latest update from our local County and District Councillor, Susan Hobson:

It has been a very busy time for me over the last couple of months.

Being invited to the licensing of Reverend Graham Duncan at Baslow Church recently was a great honour for me, as well as attending a Platinum Jubilee Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

I decided to go eco-friendly, second hand for my visit to London and chose the perfect dress from the Ashgate Hospice Charity Shop at Peak Village!

I went to various Jubilee events in my ward and division, including the Darley Dale festivities, the celebrations at Stanton-in-the-Peak, Calver, Baslow, Beeley, Northwood & Tinkersley, as well as the tree planting ceremony in Stoney Middleton. I also supported the festivities in Warren Carr and Birchover, and joined in with the village litter pick in Rowsley, as well as visiting other events.

My library portfolio highlights included Jubilee events for children at Swadlincote and Chesterfield, and a Knit & Natter Group at Shirebrook.

I have been working hard with my town and parish councils, as well as meetings at Pilsley and Froggatt, and although I can’t attend every meeting I do try to get to as many as I can. I have been trying to go to some meetings on my bike (after signing up to the Darley Dale Green Pledge) and look forward to further visits to local schools in my area, along with visits to the Darley Dale Scout Group, the Chatsworth Ladies Cricket Team and the team at Dukes Barn in Beeley.

After just over a year in post as a County Councillor I have had many issues relating to highways, including closed roads due to landslips (three in my area), and complaints regarding speeding. Parking issues in the area have been affecting waste collections and grass cutting is a regular problem.

I wanted to share with you the poster and linked web page for the Go Green Event to be held at the end of July in Hall Leys Park, Matlock. Visit the event’s web page.

As always, please do email me if you have any concerns on either of my council email addresses:
