The Captive Queen

On Tuesday 14 December at 7.30pm in the Village Hall, the Baslow History Society will welcome David Templeman, a local historian and author, who will be talking about his latest book Mary Queen of Scots: The Captive Queen 1568-84.

David’s latest book, Mary, Queen of Scots: The Captive Queen in England 1568-87, has been received to critical acclaim:

Despite the many biographies on Mary, Queen of Scots, there has not been a full and detailed up to date, biographical account and a full honest appraisal of Mary’s nineteen years in English captivity, until now.

“After 12 years of painstaking research, most of it primary sourced, here is the book to address the aforementioned and deals with the fundamental issues not covered in previous works on the captivity.”

There will be seasonal refreshments and everyone is welcome; the cost for non-members is £4.

If you are looking for a Christmas present our book Baslow Through The Ages has been reprinted and will be available at the meeting and from the Spar shoppriced £7.
