Update on A625 roadworks

Here is a message from Severn Trent regarding the on-going roadworks on the A625 below Froggatt Edge:

I’m writing with an update on our water pipe improvements project along the A625 near Froggatt.

Unfortunately, the project hasn’t progressed as well as our team expected and so we’ve asked Derbyshire County Highways for a generous extension to our programme.

Whilst the team expected hard ground which prompted the use of a heavy duty trenching machine, the ground conditions have been a greater challenge than we could imagine.

Whilst we appreciate this is disappointing news, during the slower progress, we’ve managed to assist another project that had plans to carry out further improvements next year. This collaboration will hopefully minimise future disruption during the delivery of that project.

  • Due to the difficulties, we’ve requested a safe extension to the road closure permit which will now last until the end of May 2023.
  • The section of works that will be completed under traffic lights, from the A625/B6001 junction towards Calver crossroads will continue until the end of June 2023. This will only commence once the road closure has been removed.

We’ve issued the attached letter to the immediate communities and beyond. Again my direct telephone number is on the attached letter for any customer concerns or queries.

Kind regards
